Pacific Yankee was crowned the 2020 Melges IC37 National Champion in Newport, RI on October 4. The West Coast-based team, co-owned by Bill Ruh and Drew Freides, finished with a resounding 13-point lead over the competition after two races on Sunday.
After less than a week since the Melges IC37 Class competed in Race Week at Newport, the teams are back on the racecourse for the National Championship.
The New York Yacht Club Race Committee fired off another three races on Day Two of the Melges IC37 National Championship. Teams were held onshore under postponement until the sea breeze built up to 7-15 knots.
The Melges IC37 Class reconvenes on the racecourse in Newport, RI for its National Championship October 2-4. The Championship will be hosted by the New York Yacht Club in conjunction with its 166th Annual Regatta, North America’s oldest sailing competition.
